Safety & Important Information

Everything you need to know before your desert journey

Your Safety is Our Priority

The Thar Desert is beautiful, but it demands respect. Extreme temperatures, isolation, and unpredictable weather require preparation and awareness. Isak has spent his entire life in these conditions, but wilderness travel always carries inherent risks.

We take every precaution to minimize dangers, but transparency is crucial. This page explains our safety measures, limitations, and what you must know before booking.

⚠️ Critical Safety Notice

Medical Emergencies: The deep desert has no hospitals, doctors, or ambulances. If you have serious health conditions—heart problems, severe allergies, chronic illnesses requiring medication—you must disclose this before booking. Some conditions may make this trip unsuitable.

Physical Fitness: You will walk in sand, endure temperature extremes, and sleep on the ground. If you have mobility issues, recent surgeries, or physical limitations, discuss them honestly so we can plan appropriately.

Mental Preparedness: Isolation and silence can be psychologically challenging. If you struggle with anxiety in unfamiliar environments, consider whether this experience is right for you.

Our Safety Measures

Emergency Communication

Mobile network coverage is available in most areas (approximately 95% coverage). In case of emergencies, we can contact authorities quickly. However, response times in remote desert areas may still take several hours.

Weather Monitoring

Routes are planned based on current and forecasted weather. Sandstorms, extreme heat, or unexpected cold can force route changes. Isak's judgment on weather safety is final.

Water Management

Sufficient drinking water is carried for the entire journey with backup supplies. Dehydration is a serious risk in the desert, and water discipline is strictly enforced.

First Aid

A comprehensive first aid kit is always carried, and Isak is trained in basic emergency response. However, serious medical issues require evacuation to Jaisalmer.

Route Knowledge

Isak knows safe paths, water sources, and shelter points throughout the desert. He does not take unnecessary risks and will adjust plans if conditions become unsafe.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical evacuation, trip cancellation, and emergency expenses. This is YOUR responsibility to arrange before departure.

Rules & Guidelines

These rules exist to protect you, Isak, the camels, and the desert itself. They are non-negotiable.

1

Respect Isak's Authority

Isak is your guide and safety officer. If he says to stop, you stop. If he changes the route, you follow. His decisions are based on years of desert experience, not arbitrary preference. Arguing with him on safety matters is grounds for ending the trip early without refund.

2

No Alcohol or Drugs

Absolutely prohibited. The desert requires full awareness and physical capability. Impairment endangers everyone. Violation results in immediate trip termination.

3

Respect the Camels

Camels are not machines. They are living beings with limits. Do not hit, yell at, or overburden them. Isak decides when they rest, what they carry, and how they are treated. Mistreating an animal ends your journey immediately.

4

Leave No Trace

Everything you bring into the desert, you take out—including all waste. Do not litter, burn plastic, or damage plants. The desert is sacred to those who live here. Disrespecting it disrespects Isak and his heritage.

5

Cultural Sensitivity

This is rural Rajasthan with conservative values. Dress modestly (cover shoulders and knees), respect local customs, and understand that you are a guest in someone else's home. Offensive behavior will not be tolerated.

6

No Loud Music or Noise

The desert speaks in silence. That is its gift. Bluetooth speakers, loud conversations, or disruptive behavior defeats the purpose of this experience. If you need constant noise, this trip is not for you.

7

Honesty About Abilities

If you are struggling physically or mentally, speak up immediately. Pride in the desert can be dangerous. Isak cannot help if you do not communicate honestly about your condition.

8

Acceptance of Risk

By booking this trip, you acknowledge that desert travel involves inherent risks that cannot be fully eliminated. You take responsibility for your own safety and decision to participate.
